Dr. Marie M. Spivey serves as
the Vice President, Health Equity for the Connecticut Hospital Association. She is a
register Nurse, the former Bureau Chief of Community Health for the Connecticut
Department of Public Health, chairs the Connecticut Commission on Health
Equity, and co-chairs the Health Disparity and Equity Advisory Committee for
SustiNet, Connecticut’s universal healthcare coverage plan. She is a Visiting
Professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Pediatrics,
Community Medicine and Healthcare, the Center of Excellence in Health
Disparities research, and the Center for Public Health and Health Policy. During Dr. Spivey’s tenure as Hartford
Hospital’s Vice President of Community Involvement, she was responsible for the
facility’s expanded participation into the Greater Hartford communities through
its Community Benefit programs, and also served as the hospital’s loaned
executive and Chief Executive Officer for the Learning Corridor – Hartford’s
first 16 acre campus of 4 magnet schools and a performing arts theater. Dr. Spivey has participated for several years
in the New England Minority Health Initiative and co-hosted its largest
conference in 2007 in Connecticut. |
