American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network

Mr. JR Fujita joined the American Cancer Society, California Division, in 2001 with five years of experience in the nonprofit sector. His current position is with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). Mr. Fujita is responsible for volunteer recruitment, training, retention, and recognition in the Central California region. He serves as a co-lead for the nationwide Asian American Pacific Islander Employee Engagement Group and is a member of the ACS CAN Diversity & Inclusion Team. He also oversees the internship and volunteer program for the ACS CAN office in Sacramento and helps lead an Advocacy Buzz call for statewide volunteer legislative ambassadors and staff. He is currently a part of the Nationwide Management Development Program 2018 cohort.

Mr. Fujita is a native of Sacramento and a graduate of California State University, Sacramento. He received a BA in business administration, with a concentration in marketing management after just 3.5 years of study. As a college student, he served as a marketing intern for General Motors and was employed by Polo Ralph Lauren and People Reaching Out. He also oversaw the youth ministry for middle and high school students at his church.

Mr. Fujita currently volunteers for the National Teen Leadership Program as a member of the Advisory Board and Alumni Outreach Committee. His previous volunteer positions were with the Sacramento Warlords Asian Basketball Organization, Sacramento Asian Community Church Basketball Program, Sacramento Asian Sports Foundation, Sacramento Blood Bank, and Sacramento Kings. He resides in Sacramento with his three dogs.
